I have naturally curly hair, very curly!!! but i usually always straighten it. I try to curl my hair with the curling iron while its straight but it never works the curls just go away or doesn't curl at all. And the one time i tried with a smaller iron but i just looked like goldie locks, i didn't like it. I have medium length hair. I want my hair to look something like this...

They are both really pretty. Are you using styling products when you curl your hair. I have naturally wavy hair but when i straighten and curl, I had the same problem with the curl not holding.

But I bought some products. They have "curl activating" serum/spray. I know John Frieda makes one but you can look around at others. Spray it on your hair when it's wet. (You can even use spray gel or mousse-- whatever you like really). Then blow dry/straighten. But don't straighten it completely. Leaave some texture there, it will hold the curl better.

Pick out the section you are going to curl and spray it with hair spray FIRST (I personally think aeresol hairspray works much better than the pump kind.) Then curl, and spray again with hairspray. Do this all over your head. The curls will probably look tight and may be a little too bouncy at first but you can loosen them up with your fingers to get them how you want them. Then put some pomade or styling creme on he ends or on the pieces to give some smoothness and texture--and hair spray again.

They won't be soft, super touchable curls but I'm telling ya, it works and they last!

OR you can use hot rollers. I've never used them before but I have friends that do, and it creates really pretty soft, waves. Again, you would need to use a styling product like hair spray to set them.

If that doesnt work, ask your stylist. Bring in the pic, and she can show you what to do and what products might help hold the curl better. I've done this a few times and they're very helpful!
