How can I become more satisfied with my own body?

I am somewhat underweight, 5'8"-ish, stick-straight brown hair, brown eyes. I'm not very attractive and my breasts are small.

I dye my hair red, wear contacts instead of glasses, wear clothing that fits well with my body type. I want to get tattoos and piercings to make myself look more like who I want to be, but my boyfriend and Mum don't approve. They think I should be happy with how I was made. What do you think?

Please only answer if you're going to actually put some thought and/or research into it. No one liners from the peanut gallery, please.

Hey, first of all good answer to my question. It was great. Anyways, as for you to be satisfied with you, well I know this will sound trite, but, You have to love yourself. And if that takes tattoos ( which I have quite a few of), or piercings to do this at this moment in time that is fine. But think about what you are doing before you do these things. Piercings can be taken out, tattoos though can't be removed, unless you get laser surgery.

Please just consider exercises in self confidence, and ignore what the media, and others around your world say, or have said about you.

I'm sure you are beautiful it's just really, really hard to see it because of what is thrown in our face by the media, and our peers.

So stay strong, and find your way through this. You are way too intelligent to fall for others games.

I think you sound very attractive.

In our culture, most of us seem to think we should look differently than we do, until we're older and our looks are going, and we look back at old pictures and see the beauty.

They see the hardest thing to see is one's own beauty. Give that some thought.

It's not something trained into your eyes by the media. It's something that you have to learn. So, spend some time with this and see. It can take years but it is worth it.

Have you thanked your mom and boyfriend? I think what they are saying does deserve a thank you at the least.

Hope this helps!

We always magnify what we see as flaws in our bodies. The truth is that a great smile, eye contact, a friendly demeanor, and a curious mind have more to do with how attractive you are to others. Nothing looks worse than someone who is trying too hard to portray and image. It is not what we project, but rather how others see us. We may judge by appearance, but that is easily overcome with other attributes. ......not everyone likes the same look or body type.

First of all,a tattoo is something you can never take back so you should only do it if you are 100% sure you want that particular design on your body and not in an impulse cause you could regret later on.But if you like tattoos, you think it's something that express you and will look good on you go for it(by the way,i hope you are not under aged cause than I would say wait 'till you are at least 18).

A friend of mine once gave me a very good advise of how to become better known with my body and how I can start accept it and even later on become to love it.She took a nice hot shower/bath every night at the end of her tiring day using bath salts, shower creams etc that smelled really good and after that she used body lotion on her whole body. That way she created a special hour just for her, started to care about her body and even became familiar with it and started to appreciate it more.

Other than that, try a different look with your hair, dye it another color, wear colored contacts.

Find a way to love your body or at least to accept it cause it's something you will carry always with you and no matter how many changes you make,if you don't make this change inside you you will never be happy with your body,no matter how good it looks.
