What is the best way how to scrunch frizzy hair?

I have long(but not really long) light brown hair and it often frizzes whenever I try to scrunch it. I have tried using curling gels and mousse but it always gets clumped together into several large curls and its not how i like it. I scrunch it wet with either john frida frizz syrum or herbal essence curl gel

dry with a diffuser and low heat!
